Over the past number of years the Baltray Road between the Premier Periclease Factory main entrance and the Boyne Viaduct Railway Bridge in Drogheda Town has suffered considerable damage from the increase in the number of articulated lorries using the Drogheda Port terminal at Tom Roes Point and also the Premier Periclase factory. The proximity to the River Boyne to this road would also be a contributing factor to its present state of collapse. Motorists using this stretch of road have complained to Cllr. Oliver Tully about its worsening condition which has caused extensive damage to their vehicles.
Under the 2008 Regional and Local Roads Grant Allocations from Central Government local Councillor Oliver Tully welcomes the allocation of 566,000euro for strengthening and rehabilitation works to the Baltray Road between the Premier Periclease Factory main entrance and the Boyne Viaduct Railway Bridge in Drogheda Town. He also welcomes the fact that towns are now gaining access to this essential funding that only County Councils could access in the past.
